Stacey Scaccia, Home Garden Consultant

I am a home gardener. My love of nature, plants, flowers and gardens started at a young age. When I was a little girl I would visit my Nana and go directly to her backyard gardens that lined every available edge of her yard. When I asked her the names of the flowers that I was drawn to she would not only tell me the name, but many more details about it that made it special or interesting. I was always amazed at how she could remember so much about so many plants! I just loved all the colors and smells. Her yard was the best playground!

Years later, as a stay at home mom I would spend hours outside in my own backyard with my kids. Nature was always a place where I felt most at peace with fond memories of my Nana. My children began showing interest in the trees, plants, worms, birds, and bugs in our yard. A family vacation to Mexico to follow the migration of the monarch butterfly enhanced my children’s understanding of where the butterflies from our yard went in the winter. Witnessing the web of life and how we are all connected and responsible for protecting it was an integral concept for their growth and respect of nature.

Since then, I have gradually added gardens to areas of our yard that once housed a sandbox or swing set. We've grown our own food in raised bed gardens and composted our kitchen scraps to use again in those same gardens.

I've spent hundreds of hours gardening and learning through trial and error. I've learned from fellow gardeners and their successes and failures. I've also researched perennial plants and garden design for years and feel I can share what I’ve learned with other gardeners. Gardening with and for friends and neighbors is very rewarding and is what inspired me to start Blossoms Garden Consulting. Spending time in my gardens listening to the birds and watching the butterflies helps me feel grounded and grateful for the beauty of each blossom. My goal is to help home gardeners feel successful and at peace in their own garden spaces.
